The Legend of Zelda as a revolution in gaming, and a brief look at some imitators

A brief look at some Zelda clones.
In one of my conversations with Latino Gamer, he mentioned how Ocarina of Time is considered "the walking copyright" because of its novelty and advances in 3D gaming. I agree with that, considering that the whole "Z-Targeting" feature did make the game more manageable than other games of its time. Zelda as a series, however, is itself revolutionary in many aspects. the original Legend of Zelda has had many "clones" imitating its style of free range exploration, sword fighting, and hidden content.

Here's one example: Golden Axe Warrior for the Sega Master System. See if you find any similarities with Zelda.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, considered the "Black Sheep" of the series, also has its copycats. The following is an episode of the Angry Video Game Nerd presenting Rambo for the NES. See if you can spot any similarities in that game with Zelda II.

In future articles I will present more Zelda clones. Let's see which ones are worth trying.
